Waterproofing

For waterproofers. It covers stopping water getting into a building, such as in bathrooms, balconies and roofs.

2,925 licensees on QBCC’s register hold this class. 2,451 hold it as a contractor licence, so can sign a contract with you directly.

What this licence covers
  • Applying, installing and repairing waterproofing, including preparing the surface

Good to know

A leaking shower or balcony can damage the building well beyond the wet area, and is costly to fix later. Ask who will waterproof your wet areas and check they hold this licence, or a class such as Wall and Floor Tiling that includes it.

Like most trade licences, it also lets the holder do small jobs from another class that are part of the main job, as long as each is worth less than $3,300 and isn’t plumbing, drainage, gas or other work that needs its own licence.
