Stone Masonry

Stonemasons build and repair with natural stone, including walls, fireplaces, stairs and the stone faces of buildings.

410 licensees on QBCC’s register hold this class. 309 hold it as a contractor licence, so can sign a contract with you directly.

What this licence covers
  • Cutting, shaping, finishing, laying and restoring stone
  • Building with stone, such as arches, fireplaces, stairs and walls
  • Setting out and fixing stone facades
  • Concrete work, waterproofing and damp-proofing that is part of the stonework

Good to know

Like most trade licences, it also lets the holder do small jobs from another class that are part of the main job, as long as each is worth less than $3,300 and isn’t plumbing, drainage, gas or other work that needs its own licence.
