Builder Restricted to Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry Installation

For kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovators. It covers putting in and updating these rooms, but not structural work.

1,969 licensees on QBCC’s register hold this class. 1,622 hold it as a contractor licence, so can sign a contract with you directly.

What this licence covers
  • Installing, renovating and repairing kitchens, bathrooms and laundries in houses and class 10 buildings
  • The same in apartments and other buildings, where the room is no bigger than 50 square metres

Not covered

  • Any work that could affect the structure of the building, such as removing a load-bearing wall
  • Plumbing, gas or electrical work, unless they also hold that licence. These need licensed trades.

Good to know

A bathroom renovation usually also needs a licensed plumber, an electrician and waterproofing done properly. Ask who will do each part.
